Fantasy Baseball 2013 - Recent Moves

Well, what can I say. The Omar Infante (2B - DET) and Adam Lind (1B - TOR) experiment didn't last long. With news out of Detroit that Infante has suffered a setback, I didn't hesitate cutting him loose. And Lind has been just plain crap over the last couple weeks, so he had to go as well.

My Recent Transactions:

-Added Junior Lake (SS - CHC); dropped Omar Infante (2B - DET)
No, I don't think this guy is going to hit .571 with 54 HRs, but I'd be lying if I didn't admit that I'm intrigued by his potential. Although he's never been a very heralded prospect, stranger things have happened in the big leagues. And, at the very least, I'm willing to ride his hot streak while Jedd Gyorko tries to get his swing figured out in the meantime. However, I wouldn't necessarily recommend him to the average fantasy owner, unless you're a gambler. It's a long shot he'll be able to sustain fantasy-worthy production over the course of an entire season, but he should steal plenty of bases, and may surprise you with his power as well. After all, at 6'2, 215 Ibs., he's not exactly undersized.

-Claimed Leonys Martin (OF - TEX) off waivers; dropped Adam Lind (1B - TOR)
Granted, Martin is in the midst of a crippling slump, but I'm pretty surprised he was dropped in my league, given the shortage of stolen bases in the free agent pool. And this was sort of like a redemption claim for me, as I'd had Martin on my roster earlier in the season but ended up dropping him right before he went on a tear. Plus, with the Biogenesis cloud hanging over Nelson Cruz's head, it doesn't hurt to have a backup plan in place. So, I expect Martin to get back on track soon and start stealing bases and hitting HRs again. And as for Lind, he's really fallen off the map as of late. Even more so than Martin. But with that being said, Martin is the far superior player regardless. Lind doesn't offer nearly as much.

-Added Todd Frazier (3B - CIN); dropped Alex Wood (SP - ATL)
If you haven't noticed, Frazier has recently been crushing the ball for Cincinnati, posting a .428 average with 6 RBIs and 4 runs over his last seven games. And even though he hasn't hit any HRs over that time, the power should come, since we all know he has it in him. But whether he'll capitalize on that power this season is anyone's guess. He's only hit 10 HRs to date, and is on pace to hit a measly 15 by season's end, which would be a disappointment, to put it lightly. Then again, if his HR bat heats up down the stretch, he very well could hit 20+ and meet people's expectations. If nothing else, he's keeping Brett Lawrie's seat warm until he heats up (if he heats up). So, I view him as a nice stop-gap player.

League Transactions (excluding my own):

-Claimed Dan Straily (SP - OAK) off waivers; dropped Tim Hudson (SP - ATL)

-Added Dillon Gee (SP - NYM); dropped Jeremy Hefner (SP - NYM)

-Added Mike Zunino (C - SEA); dropped James Loney (1B - TB)
