Fantasy Baseball 2013 - Closer Report

Koji Uehara, RP - BOS
-With Andrew Bailey headed to the DL, and Joel Hanrahan being a complete mess so far this season, it looks like setup man Koji Uehara will get the closing gig in Boston for the time being. Granted, he's likely to lose it once Bailey returns, but the same was said about Hanrahan when he was originally replaced by Bailey. So, anything can happen. And, if you're in a roto league that scores saves, he should be worth at least a handful over the next couple weeks, which could be the difference between winning and losing in a close league.

Aaron Crow, RP - KC
-After blowing his most recent save opportunity, KC closer Greg Holland has to be on the hot seat. Manager Ned Yost already tried to give the job to setup man Kelvin Herrera earlier in the season before he blew it too, forcing him to turn back to Holland against his better judgement. But top draft pick Aaron Crow is waiting in the wings (pun intended) with a nice shiny 1.08 ERA and 0.96 WHIP with 5 K over 8 IPs. So, if you're looking for a speculative add for saves, he's your guy. With that being said, it's always possible Holland could turn it around. But, at the rate he's going, an up and coming team like the Royals can't afford to have him coughing up runs in the 9th... especially when they have a perfectly good alternative in Crow.
