Fantasy Baseball 2013 - Closer Report

Two bits of news on the Diamondbacks' closer situation.

-Buster Olney, of ESPN, is reporting that JJ Putz (RP - ARI) may need "major elbow surgery". And, if that's true, he's likely done for the season (and at the very least, he won't be closing again any time soon).

-But, you should probably wait a second before you run out to grab David Hernandez (RP - ARI). Apparently, Heath Bell (RP - ARI) will be replacing Putz at closer, as he has more experience in the role than Hernandez (even though Hernandez is an infinitely better pitcher). And while Bell has been pitching fairly well in recent outings (his K/BB ratio is actually really good), he's still Heath Bell, and is bound to either implode or hurt himself at some point. Granted, if you're in a shallow league, leave Hernandez on the wire for now, but if you're in a deep league, or an NL-only league, I'd go ahead and stash him, because I'd be willing to bet he'll finish the season with more saves than Bell (similar to Kenley Jansen, RP - LAD, and Brandon League, RP - LAD -- it's pretty much inevitable).
