Adds/Drops
-I added Jurickson Profar (2B - TEX) and dropped Michael Pineda (SP - NYY).
Even though I technically needed a health Pineda more than Profar, I just couldn't pass up on the #1 prospect in all of baseball, especially one who plays at such as thin position. He may only be up for a limited time only, but I'm still willing to roll the dice. The upside is so high, I figured I might as well take a chance. I actually got lucky in that I stumbled upon the news of his promotion right as it was happening, because I hadn't thought much about him otherwise. And neither did any of the other owners in my league, apparently. Because no one had bothered stashing him (which might've had something to do with his .176 batting average over 9 games last season, but whatever. I got him).
-I added Daniel Murphy (2B - NYM) and dropped Andrelton Simmons (SS - ATL).
I may have covered this move already, but I simply couldn't keep Simmons any longer, especially with JJ Hardy (SS - BAL) already on my roster. Murphy was dropped in my league after going through a 4-game slump, but has since bounced back and is red hot right now. And, when you think about it, he's basically Howie Kendrick-light (2B - LAA). Kendrick, in an average year, is good for about a .300 BA, 10 HRs and about 15 SBs, which is roughly what Murphy should provide, give or take a few numbers here or there (more take than give, but similar nonetheless). And, when I looked at it like that, this move was a no-brainer.
Waiver Wire
-I claimed Tony Cingrani (SP - CIN) off waivers and dropped Nolan Arenado (3B - COL).
Yes, I know that Cingrani is getting sent down, but I claimed him for two reason -- 1. I don't believe he'll stay down in the minors for long, and 2. I can use him as Cueto-insurance. I mean, the guy is undoubtedly a stud, although he seemed to falter a bit in his last couple of starts (stress a bit) and may have been experiencing some kind of arm or shoulder trouble. But he should be fine moving forward, and could be back up sooner rather than later. And, in any case, he's much more of a sure thing than Pineda is. We really have no clue if Pineda will be any good or not, whereas we know full well what Cingrani can do. So, it was an easy decision. And, as much as I like Arenado, he became expendable with the addition of Profar. Because, even if Profar is only up for a week, Austin Jackson (OF - DET) and Adam Eaton (OF - ARI) will be coming off the DL soon, so I won't have room for Arenado anyway.
